SOMEWHERE I HAVE NEVER TRAVELLED GLADLY BEYOND

somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond
any experience, your eyes have their silence:
In your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,
or which I cannot touch because they are too near
 
your slightest look easily will unclose me
though I have closed myself as fingers,
you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens
(touching skillfully, mysteriously) her first rose
 
or if your wish be to close me, I and
my life will shut very beautifully, suddenly,
as when the heart of this flower imagines
the snow carefully everywhere descending;
 
nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals
the power of your intense fragility: whose texture
compels me with the colour of its countries,
rendering death and forever with each breathing
 
(i do not know what it is about you that closes
and opens; only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper that all roses)
nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands


										
										
ALGUM LUGAR AONDE NUNCA FUI, ALEGREMENTE ALÉM
 
algum lugar aonde nunca fui, alegremente além
de qualquer experiência, teus olhos têm o seu silêncio:
no teu gesto mais frágil existem coisas que me envolvem
em que não posso tocar porque estão perto demais
 
teu olhar mais ligeiro facilmente me revela
embora eu tenha me fechado como dedos,
abres sempre o meu ser pétala por pétala como a Primavera abre
(tocando hábil, misteriosamente) sua primeira rosa
 
ou se quiseres me fechar, eu e
minha vida cerraremos linda e repentinamente,
como quando o coração desta flor imagina
a neve cuidadosamente por toda parte descendo;
 
nada do que percebemos neste mundo é igual
ao poder de tua intensa fragilidade: textura que
me compele com a cor de seus países,
produzindo morte e eternidade a cada sopro
 
(não sei o que em ti fecha
e abre; só algo em mim compreende
a voz de teus olhos é mais profunda que todas as rosas)
ninguém, nem mesmo a chuva, tem mãos tão pequenas
